Athletics & Physical Education
Physical health is a central competent of development of the whole child. Physical Education is, therefore, an important part of our curriculum in all grades. We also encourage students to participate in extracurricular sports/programs. All St. Ignatius students Pre-K-8th grade participate in physical education twice each week:. Our middle school students also take Health and are offered a Lifetime Fitness elective course. In addition, we offer and encourage extracurricular sports/programs.
TVCS (Treasure Valley Catholic Schools)
St Ignatius Middle School Students participate in TVCS (Treasure Valley Catholic Schools) Athletics Program. TVCS is a coalition of the K-8 Catholic schools in the greater Boise area that combine to participate in the Inter Valley Athletic League. TVCS Sports offered include volleyball, cross-country, football, wrestling, basketball, tennis, and track and field. Sixth graders may participate in TVCS cross country, wrestling, tennis, track and quiz bowl; all TVCS sports are open to seventh and eighth graders.
St. Ignatius Run/Walk Club
Mr. Stivison is excited to announce that St. Ignatius has a run/walk club that is happening every morning from 8:10-8:25 on the Path. Every student has a QR code and when students run a lap, we scan it with the IPad. Mr. Stivison keeps track of how many laps students run throughout the year. Students receive prizes for participation in the program. If you have, any questions about the program e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Parents can also do laps with their child using their teachers QR code so that their classroom gets more laps (must be Safe Environment trained).
5th and 6th Grade Basketball
Girls’ season is October through November; boys play January through February. Practices are held at the school on weekdays. Coached by parent volunteers, all students of all skill levels abilities are encouraged to participate. Games are played after school. Students are encouraged in any grade to participate in YMCA/AAU Sports programs and encouraged to identify as a St. Ignatius student. If there is sufficient interest, they will create a St. Ignatius team.
Hallissey Basketball Tournament
The Hallissey Basketball has been a tradition in Idaho Catholic education for many years. 7th & 8th grade students compete in this annual state-wide tournament with students from other Catholic schools and parishes throughout Idaho. The tournament is held in Boise, generally during President’s Day weekend. Coached by parent volunteers, all students of all skill levels abilities are encouraged to participate. Holy Spirit Basketball Tournament
The Holy Spirit Basketball in Pocatello, Idaho includes 5th-6th grade Catholic school students from around Idaho. Coached by parent volunteers, all students of all skill levels abilities are encouraged to participate.
